News from the Blooming Grove ISD Superintendent’s Office – May 15, 2015
Greetings,
This last week I had the awesome experience of watching the Lions play in their baseball playoff game. Even though we lost the boys played a good game with dignity and respect. After the game I went to the bus and shook the hands of all the players and extended a pat on the back for a well played season. Once again I was very impressed by our students and their attitudes.
Board Election
On May 19, 2015 we will be swearing in three new board members to the Blooming Grove ISD Board. They are Pat Reed, David Peterson, and Micah Haden. I want to extend a word of congratulations to each of the new members. I look forward to working with the new board at Blooming Grove ISD as we work to make Blooming Grove the school district of choice in Navarro County.
Jr. High Band
I want to congratulate the Jr. High Band on a job well done. This last week the band competed in the ‘ITZ’ Music Festival in Euless and received a division ‘1’ rating. Mr. Bass and the band students are doing great work in growing and improving the band in all areas. I invite you out tonight to the auditorium at 6:30 p.m. to attend the spring band concert and experience for yourself the awesome sounds coming from the band.
Spring Events
As we wind down the school year I wanted to provide everyone with some dates of importance:
- May 18th Blooming Grove Athletic Banquet at 6:30 pm. at Navarro Mills Lake at Wolf Pavilion
- May 19th BGISD Board Meeting 6:30 p.m. High School Cafeteria
- May 21st FCCLA Banquet High School Cafeteria 6:30 p.m.
- May 22nd Early Release at 1:00 p.m.
- May 25th School Holiday
Starting next school year once we have the website reconstructed you will have access to a ‘live’ calendar that will have all the school events listed on the calendar.
Facility Needs and Improvement
Over the course of the next two months the board will be creating a Master Facilities Plan in order to address updating our facilities and addressing the needs of community and our students. Once this plan is developed it will be published to the public in order to keep everyone informed over the Master Facilities Plan.
I want to thank everyone for their continued warm welcome to me and my family as we become members of your community. As always I wanted to remind you if you ever have any issues or concerns, please contact me.
Thanks,
Marshall Harrison
